INTERPORT TERMINAL IN HANISKE PRZY KOŠICIACH

The project for the modernisation of the transhipment point will be implemented within the framework of the development of the main TEN-T Rhine-Danube network, namely on the Munich/Nuremberg - Prague - Ostrava/Přerov - Žilina - Košice - UA border route and will contribute to the further development and expansion of transport capacity and services in this corridor.
The implementation of this project will in particular allow to shift the increasing load from road freight transport to alternative rail transport and to strengthen the rail connection between Slovakia (EU member country) and the countries to the east of Slovakia (Ukraine, eventually up to China).

The modernisation of the Interport transhipment terminal maintains its original operational purpose, which is the transhipment of goods transported in a safer and more efficient way in closed containers, including maintaining the current connection to the external transport infrastructure (tracks, access road), while bringing the inadequate and outdated original technical solutions within the site into line with the needs of the present day, such as the use of BAT, environmental protection and an overall increase in the efficiency, economy and safety of the operation of the transhipment terminal.
